Queen Tilda: Problemista and Alamo Throwbacks

Superstar actress Tilda Swinton has done a little bit of everything since her debut role in Derek Jarman's Caravaggio in 1986--including a lot of Queer films. To celebrate the release of A24's Problemista from queer writer/director Julio Torres, Alamo Drafthouse is showing a ton of Tilda films. Here are our picks:

Orlando

Adapted from Virginia Woolfe's novel, this film follows Tilda Swinton as Orlando, an young nobleman who lives for centuries, and awakes one day to find himself transformed into a woman. Suspiria

Out director Luca Guadagnino followed Call Me By Your Name with this creepy remake of the 1977 horror classic. Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson star in this tale of Cold War witchcraft, dance, and the dark corners of the human heart -- which competed for the Queer Lion at Venice.

Returning to Cinemas: She is Conann (2022)

Actress Jena Malone introduces the film on March 1.

Just like the film's titular gender-bent barbarian, She is Conann fights on. From the Director's Fortnight at Cannes to Fantastic Fest, this queer feminist take on the legend of Conan comes back to LA screens for a limited engagement thanks to American Cinematheque.

Fresh from its premiere at Sundance, this bloody lesbian bodybuilding revenge thriller romance (say that three times fast) stars Kristin Stewart as Lou, a lonely gym manager. Her attraction to bodybuilder Jackie pulls her into her family's criminal schemes with violent results.

Glitter and Doom (2024)
