Wicked Queer is an all-volunteer organization at all levels-–from ushers to our executive director. We are for the community and by the community and we would love you be a part of our team.

- Flexible commitment: Volunteer opportunities can be on-site or fully virtual. A typical time commitment is 10-15 hours per month.

Film Programming

Festival Programmer

Greater Boston//Anywhere

Help us select the films that we show at Wicked Queer! In a typical year, we can receive as many as 3,000 film submissions -- and our volunteer programmers watch them, score them, and figure out where and when we will show the very best of them.

Programming volunteers meet monthly during programming season, which runs July through February.

Festival Operations

Communications Manager

Greater Boston

Own and execute the communications strategy for Wicked Queer and WQ:Docs across email, social, web, and IRL events. Maintain a consistent voice and engage the community through timely and inspiring messages that deepen their connections with Queer cinema and their Queer community, during our festivals and year-round.

Venue Support

Greater Boston

Venue volunteers collaborate with the WQ team and screening event venue staff to create a welcoming festival atmosphere. Venue support volunteers greet and guide attendees, check tickets and badges, and distribute and collect audience award ballots.

Events Team

We like to party! Our festivals are regularly attended by filmmakers, special guests, and our community! Our events team plans, promotes, and coordinates smooth operations for all of our festival parties.

Archivist

With forty years of history, Wicked Queer has seen the world of Queer rights and Queer cinema change dramatically. We are looking for an archivist to help us organize our physical and digital assets and preserve them for future generations as good stewards of history.
