At the local gym’s steam room, three very different women escape from their troubles and find ways to overcome their personal struggles. Laurie (Ally Sheedy) still allows herself to be manipulated by her ex-husband, and is suddenly pursued by her son's much younger football coach. Elizabeth (Kate Siegel), a freshman at Rutgers University, struggles to free herself from her parents controlling grip as she slowly comes to terms with her sexuality. Doris (Ruby Dee), who has lost her husband a year ago, can no longer find much to live for.
