Rachel flees NYC after another traumatic breakup and arrives at her parents’ home in San Diego. They are adamant to see their wayward daughter settle down with a nice girl. Rachel goes on several blind dates that misfire badly. She finally lets her mother set her up with Christine, a typical Californian girl. Much to Rachel’s chagrin, mom is right! Meanwhile, Rachel’s friends wait for her to screw up the relationship. They know, even if she won’t admit it, that she still carries a torch for her ex-girlfriend and they’re not sure what would happen if she reappeared to reclaim Rachel.
Struggling freelance writer Rachel Rosen flees New York City after another traumatic breakup with her capricious girlfriend Reggie and arrives at her parents’ home in San Diego, where she is greeted by her PFLAG mom who just wants to see her daughter settle down with a nice girl. Rachel reluctantly allows her mother to set her up with Christine, by all appearances a typical California girl. Soon, Rachel and Christine are moving in together. But, Rachel’s friends and family fear that she will ruin the relationship, knowing that Rachel still has feelings for her ex-girlfriend. Daily Variety calls Lesnick a “budding talent,” and describes the film as a “Woody Allen trifecta reconfigured into sharp-witted lesbian comedy.”
